She is a spokesperson for hair-care products. She has appeared in Clairol commericals: Herbal Essence Shampoo (1994) and Nice ‘n Easy hair color (2000).

She quit smoking after getting bronchitis in 1999.

She received her BA from Brandeis University, and her MA in Drama from New York University.

Debra is ironically afraid of talking in front of large crowds. She admitted and did a special episode about it on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Debra gave birth to a son, Roman Walker Zelman, 2 weeks prematurely on April 7th, 2004, in Los Angeles. He weighed 5lbs 14oz, and was 19 inches long.

While she was pregnant with Roman she had a car accident. After the accident, she was hooked to an IV and was closely observed by speciallist for three days. She suffered minor contractions which doctors beleived would lead to an imminent premature birth.

Debra was born in Rhode Island, but her parents moved the family to New York in hopes of giving their children a more steady life.

Debra won the award for Best Actress (for Will & Grace) at the 2002 Golden Satellite Awards. She also won a TV Guide award.
