Patrick Fugit, best known for playing the boy-wonder rock journalist in Cameron Crowe’s 2000 feature Almost Famous, has lined up a regular TV gig, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actor, 27, is joining Debra Messing in ABC’s comedy pilot Wright vs. Wrong, the trade paper reports.

In the show, the 41-year-old Messing — who won an Emmy during her eight-year run on Will & Grace — plays Evelyn Wright, a Type-A conservative commentator who tries to maintain her public persona despite personal vulnerabilities. Fugit is inked in to play her contributing writer, a liberal New York University graduate.

Melissa Rauch has been cast as her naïve personal assistant.
